Websites – work with Sam Hicks
if you have ended up here you are looking for a website for your small business.
So what are the steps?
-
1. Make sure you have the domain name secured.
Who do I use? https://www.virtual.net.au/domain-names/
There are many domain name registers in Australia.
I like Virtual as options with Alan the team starts from $22 per year and for me its one phone call to sort domain and or email issues – if there are any.
( I have been with Virtual since 2003 – no issues in all that time )
TIP – If you are looking for just an .au domain check out auDA they are the administrator of Australia’s .au top level domain ( with 4 Million + au domains registered) and have great info on their site.
2. Then build a website
Find a designer or a platform, find a host for your website to live with, and get your content (images and text) ready.
( and there are AI sites that build websites too if you are looking for speed, ease and customisation )
Then?
What are the options?
Option one
Self-build with WIX, Squarespace, Go Daddy or similar ( all are in one platform with a variety of buy-ins, and everything can be added on for additional costs).
Most providers offer paid plans that include an SSL certificate, SEO tools, website analytics, and a basic booking tool. They offer website builder options, meaning they have onsite teams.
They offer subscription-based options, including the option to register a domain name, but if you ever decide to shift to a different website platform, they retain your domain name
(meaning it resides with them), and you will have to pay to repoint to your new website.
Many of my clients have this style of website, and if they have been set up correctly, they are awesome!!
Option two
Eknowhow – Custom build website with Sam
So there is an initial cost for building and hosting on secure sites
(Payment is upfront and done within 45 days for all photos and content collected.).
I work with you to build a brief and work with designers.
Once the mockup is created and you love it, the website gets constructed.
Once built and signed off, you get the “keys” in the form of a log-in, and you are then in control of text and images.
Then you have me as backup support, and I can show you how to update and make changes if needed.
A video explaining more detail on this option is below.

Ps? Why EKnowhow? – Their service and skills-based team are brilliant; they have been building my websites since 2003.
I have been part of 100+ website construction projects for clients, and we can usually get a website built in under 45 days if all the text and images are in one spot.
